OUR STORY

The Pacific Community of Alaska (PCA) was founded in response to alarming data from the State of Alaska and the Municipality of Anchorage in 2021, which highlighted the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (NHPI) community in Alaska. To that extent, a diverse group of NHPI community members, who participated in virtual discussions as both individuals within the NHPI community and professionals in various fields, came together to share their unique perspectives and drive a CALL to ACTION. Recognizing the need for a culturally relevant response to the pandemic and the pervasive disparities in social and health systems, this group, driven by a sense of community, moved forward and achieved recognition as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in September 2021
